Register for free at ga.co/storytelling\n\n-----\n\nAbout the event:\n\nWelcome to FuckUp Nights Melbourne! After extremely successful events through 2016 with over 200 people regularly in attendance, we are back in 2017 to celebrate the mistakes, the failures, and fucktastic stories that make us the humans that we are.\n\nGet your FREE tickets here: http://ga.co/deathbydesign\n\nSomething a bit different in March for the FuckUP Nights and Melbourne community- a focus on Design failures!\n\nIn this free event for NGV's Melbourne's Design Week (http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/program/death-by-design-disruption-failure-in-the-design-world-discussion/#date0), we have paired up with General Assembly to GA to host an evening of flash talks with design masters who have failed and flourished; are challenging design conventions and causing trouble in the design world (in the best possible ways).\n\nWe've hand picked a range of designers across visual, user experience, product and physical design disciplines. These design 'trouble makers' are designing some of the most compelling creations and campaigns to date, failing hard and breaking rules along the way.\n\nThis event is a combination of a short flash-talks followed by a lively panel discussion to get into the nitty gritty. We'll chat about design explorations, challenges and failures, and how these have helped shape the way we interact with products, objects and services in the 21st century.\n\nThere will also be time for audience Q&A after the panel discussion and drinks provided by General Assembly, so please RSVP as spots are limited!\n\nSpeaking Group 1: Miranda Unnerstall (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mirandaunnerstall/) & Jose Maturana (https://www.linkedin.com/in/josematurana/)- Best Friends Forever (http://letsbff.com.au/)\n\n/media/archive/c1b6003e93ce07bf6f50a625-display.webp\n\nMiranda is American-made but a Melburnian at heart. Miranda grew up on a 40-acre farm in the middle of nowhere. A curious child, she asked a lot of questions, giving her the nickname Nosey Rosey (her middle name is Rose). Her curiosity took her globe-trotting from St. Louis to London, to Seoul, to where she now lives in Melbourne.\n\nHaving started in ad agencies a decade ago then transitioning to design studios, 2007 marked her move from offline to online—and she hasn't looked back. Over ten years she has mastered many roles in digital, from producer to strategist and now Director of Brand Strategy and UX at Bff.\n\nIn her spare time she loves working even more (consulting for some of Australia's biggest start ups) and brushing her pet unicorn.\n\nIn high school, José pictured a future filled with express shuttles to the moon and Nike self-lacing shoes. Only one of those things happened, but nearly every other technology that filled the void since became his livelihood.\n\nAfter two decades shaping the Internet as a developer, interface designer and studio partner, José is now Co-founder and Creative Director at Bff. If nothing else, failing his way up through three businesses means great stories about starting ventures, merging them, fighting with partners, finding new ones and starting yet again, always thinking “I’ll get it right this time”.\n\nHe's still convinced he’ll make it to the moon before his time is up.\n\nFollow Miranda on Twitter: @TheBffMIranda (https://twitter.com/TheBffMiranda?lang=en)\n\nFollow Jose on Twitter: @TheJoseMaturana (https://twitter.com/TheJoseMaturana)\n\nSpeaker 2: Callum Preston, Artist & Designer\n\n/media/archive/fb5b6448deb43c441b1cb684-display.webp\n\nCallum Preston is an Artist, designer and general jack of all trades type person from Melbourne Australia.
